The Raptors have officially reached a multi-year contract extension with Kawhi Leonard.

The Toronto Raptors officially announced on Wednesday that they have signed forward Kawhi Leonard to a multi-year contract extension. In accordance with team policy, specific financial details of the extension have not yet been disclosed.

Kawhi Leonard returned to Toronto on September 14th via trade from the Los Angeles Clippers. This is his former championship-winning home; in the 2018-19 season, Leonard played for the Raptors and led the team to their first NBA championship. That season, he not only won the NBA Finals MVP but was also selected to the All-NBA Second Team and the All-Defensive Second Team.

During his time with the Clippers last season, Leonard maintained an extremely high level of performance. In 65 games, he averaged 32.1 minutes, scoring a career-high 27.9 points, along with 6.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists. This marked his seventh consecutive season averaging over 20 points per game.

Thanks to his outstanding performance, Leonard finished seventh in the regular season MVP voting and was selected for the NBA All-Star Game and the All-NBA Second Team.

In his 14 NBA seasons with the Spurs, Raptors, and Clippers, Leonard played 798 games, averaging 20.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.7 steals per game throughout his career.

As a two-time NBA champion and Finals MVP, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year, and a member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team, Leonard's official contract extension undoubtedly injects a strong boost into the Raptors' future roster depth and competitiveness.
