Official: Sunderland extend contract with 26-year-old midfielder Lefèvre until June 2031

Sunderland officially announced on Wednesday that they have extended the contract of French midfielder Enzo Lefèvre. The new contract extends the original expiry date of 2029 by two years, until June 30, 2031.

The 26-year-old Lefèvre came through the Lorient youth academy and made his first-team debut in the French Cup on November 17, 2018. He then played for Rennes and Roma before joining Sunderland on a half-season loan in January 2025.

With Sunderland's promotion to the Premier League, Lefèvre's transfer was changed from a loan to a permanent contract. To date, he has made 64 appearances for Sunderland, scoring 9 goals and providing 10 assists.

After finalizing his contract extension, Lefèvre's joy was palpable. "I am delighted to have signed a new contract with Sunderland," he said in a statement. "From the very beginning, I have felt the passion of the fans and the ambition of everyone at the club – I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Sunderland."
