League of Legends LEC 2026 Summer Split: G2 sweeps MKOI to lead the charge to the World Championship

In the League of Legends LEC 2026 Summer Finals, which concluded on September 21, European powerhouse G2 Esports continued their absolute dominance, sweeping Movistar KOI (MKOI) 3-0 to claim the Summer Championship.

This victory secured G2's fourth consecutive league title and marked their 20th LEC championship trophy. Caps, the team's core veteran and the first European player inducted into the League of Legends Hall of Fame, also celebrated his 18th league title.

Looking back at this summer split, G2 finished only third in the regular season, but quickly adjusted to their peak performance after entering the playoffs, defeating strong opponents ranked high in the regular season to advance to the finals.

Facing MKOI, who had made a remarkable comeback from the loser's bracket, G2 displayed comprehensive dominance in the final battle, with all three games ending in a swift victory within 31 minutes, cleanly and decisively ending the suspense of the series.

After winning the championship, G2 will serve as the LEC's top seed, joining runner-up MKOI and third-place Karmine Corp (KC) to compete in the upcoming 2026 League of Legends World Championship. All three European teams will begin their competition in the Swiss-system stage, which will take place from October 23rd to 31st in Allen, Texas, vying for the highest global honor.
