The Raptors have officially signed Malachi Smith to a two-way contract.

September 22nd - According to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto, Malachi Smith has signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors. Previously, he had signed a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 training camp contract with the Raptors, which the team subsequently adjusted to a two-way contract.

The 26 -year-old Smith is 6 feet 4 inches tall (about 1.93 meters). He played for the Brooklyn Nets in the latter part of last season, appearing in 15 games, including 4 starts. He averaged 8.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, with a field goal percentage of 48.5% , a three-point percentage of 43.5% , and a free throw percentage of 100% .

Smith had his minimum salary team option exercised by the Nets on June 30 , and was subsequently waived on July 10 to help the team free up salary cap space. After joining the Raptors, he will move between the team 's home team and the Raptors 905 , their G League affiliate .

Smith is the second Gonzaga alumnus recently to have his contract converted to a two-way contract, following Graham Ike 's two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors. It is projected that 12 Gonzaga alumni will be playing in the NBA by the start of the 2026-27 season .
