Former Gonzaga player Anton Watson signed with the Lakers but was subsequently waived.

September 21 - The Los Angeles Lakers recently signed forward Anton Watson to a training camp contract, but the team subsequently waived him on September 18 .

Watson played 7 NBA Summer League games for the Lakers this summer, averaging 20.7 minutes, 7.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists, with a field goal percentage of 34.0% , a three-point percentage of 19.2% and a free throw percentage of 100% .

Watson, from Spokane, Washington, was selected by the Boston Celtics in the second round , 54th overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft. In March 2025 , he was claimed by the New York Knicks from their waiver list and played 9 games for the team, averaging 0.9 points, 0.3 rebounds, and 0.2 assists per game.

After the 2025 season, Watson joined the Los Angeles Clippers in September of the same year . Now, after signing a training camp contract with the Lakers, he was quickly waived, and his next step will most likely be to move to the G League to continue his efforts to return to the NBA .
