Gil will be entering his seventh season with the team. He is one of the longest-serving players on the Wizards' current roster. In the 2025-26 season, Gil played 55 games, averaging 5.8 points and 2.9 rebounds, both career highs in scoring.

Since joining the Wizards in the 2020-21 season, Gill has witnessed several changes in the team's roster and development direction. It's worth noting that that season was also the Wizards' most recent appearance in the NBA playoffs.

After going undrafted by the University of Virginia in 2016, Gill began his overseas professional career, playing for Turkey's Yesilgireson Beledie in the 2016-17 season, followed by three seasons with Russia's Khimki, and also playing in the EuroLeague. To date, the Wizards remain the only NBA team Gill has ever played for in his professional career.
