The Knicks signed James Wiseman to an Exhibit 9 contract.

September 20th - According to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto, the New York Knicks have signed former second overall pick James Wiseman to an Exhibit 9 contract.

Wiseman was selected second overall in the first round of the 2020 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors. The 25- year -old, standing at 2.11 meters tall, possesses excellent athleticism and finishing ability around the basket, but has yet to establish a consistent rotation role throughout his career.

Last season, Wiseman played 4 games for the Indiana Pacers , averaging 14.5 minutes, 3.3 points, and 2.0 rebounds per game. To date, he has played 152 games in his career , averaging 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

For the Knicks, signing Wiseman allows them to further evaluate their frontcourt options during training camp. Wiseman, in turn, will have a chance to prove himself again. He needs to showcase his rebounding, screen setting, defensive positioning, and finishing ability around the rim in training camp to earn the team's approval.
