The Hawks officially announced changes to Snyder's coaching staff, with Love, Messina, and Oliva joining the team.

September 20th - According to an official NBA report, the Atlanta Hawks announced that Jason Love , Ettore Messina , and Serge Oliva have joined head coach Quin Snyder 's coaching and player development team. The three will serve as assistant coach, coaching consultant, and basketball strategy and development consultant, respectively, for the 2026-27 season.

Love previously served as an assistant coach and player development coach for the Milwaukee Bucks before joining the Philadelphia 76ers coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2023. During his college years, he played for Xavier University, where he holds the school's all-time record for most wins with 108 .

Messina is one of the most accomplished coaches in European basketball, and his return to the NBA coincides with a renewed collaboration with Snyder. Snyder previously served as Messina's assistant coach at CSKA Moscow. Messina has won four EuroLeague championships and has extensive NBA experience, having served as an advisor to the Lakers and an assistant coach for the Spurs. He is also a member of the FIBA Hall of Fame.

Oliva served as assistant general manager of the Portland Trail Blazers for the past four seasons and previously coached the Rip City Mix in the NBA G League. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach for Snyder with the Utah Jazz and vice president of strategy for the Philadelphia 76ers .
