Inter Milan legend Sandro Mazzola has passed away at the age of 83.

Inter Milan issued a statement confirming the passing of 83-year-old Italian football legend Sandro Mazzola late Friday night.

The obituary reads: "Inter Milan Football Club, together with President Giuseppe Marotta, Vice President Javier Zanetti, Head Coach Cristian Chivu and his coaching staff, all players and the entire Inter family, deeply mourns the passing of Nerazzurri and world football legend Sandro Mazzola, and extends its deepest condolences to his family."

Sandro Mazzola was born on November 8, 1942, in Milan, Italy, the eldest son of Torino's legendary captain Valentino Mazzola. As one of Italy's most iconic attackers, he spent his entire 17-year professional career with only one club, Inter Milan.

From his debut in 1961 to his retirement in 1977, Mazzola made 565 appearances for Inter Milan, scoring 158 goals and providing 15 assists. Under his leadership, the Nerazzurri won four Serie A titles, two European Cups, and two Intercontinental Cups.

At the national team level, Mazzola also made significant contributions. He played 70 games for Italy, scoring 22 goals, and helped the team win the 1968 European Championship.

After ending his playing career, Mazzola did not leave the football world. He held several important positions, including sporting director, at Inter Milan, Genoa, and Torino, before moving to Italy's national broadcaster RAI to work as a football commentator.
