Osar Thompson signed a 5-year, $155 million contract extension with the Pistons.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Detroit Pistons have reached an agreement with forward Ausar Thompson on a five-year, $155 million rookie extension, successfully retaining the top wing player on the roster for the long term.

Last season, as the two-way cornerstone of the Pistons, the top seed in the Eastern Conference, O'Sullivan underwent a complete transformation. He averaged 9.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game, and was crowned the league's "steals leader" with an average of 2.0 steals per game.

With his top-notch perimeter defense, O'Sullivan was not only selected to the All-Defensive First Team without any doubt, but also ranked third in the Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) voting.

On the playoff stage, O'Sullivan shone even brighter. In the 14 playoff games he played, he averaged 2.0 steals and 1.8 blocks per game, becoming the first player in the league since Anthony Davis in 2020 to record at least 25 steals and 25 blocks in a single playoff series, demonstrating his unparalleled defensive pressure.

This signing further cements the Thompson family's place in history. Earlier this month, his twin brother, Amen Thompson, signed a five-year, $208 million maximum contract extension with the Houston Rockets.

The two thus became the first pair of twin brothers in NBA history to each sign a contract worth over $100 million, and the brothers together amassed a staggering $363 million in total salary during this offseason.
