Shams: Sadiq Bay will remain with the Pelicans on a 3-year, $55 million contract, extending his stay until 2029.

According to a report by ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday, the New Orleans Pelicans have reached a contract extension agreement with Sadiq Bey. Bey will receive a three-year, fully guaranteed contract worth $55.5 million, which includes a trade bonus clause.

All indications suggest that Beal's new contract will take effect from the 2027/28 season. Prior to that, he is expected to receive approximately $6.56 million in salary this season.

The 27-year-old Bey is a 2.03-meter tall, 98-kilogram small forward who entered the NBA in 2020 as the 19th overall pick in the first round. He previously played for the Detroit Pistons and the Atlanta Hawks, accumulating 292 regular season games, averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 30.2 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 40.8% and a three-point percentage of 35.2%.

In July 2025, Bay was traded to the Pelicans in a three-team deal involving C.J. McCollum and Jordan Poole. Despite missing more than a year due to a torn ACL in his left knee, he played a total of 72 regular season games after joining the Pelicans, averaging 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 31.2 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 40.8% and a three-point percentage of 36.7%.

Multiple sources have confirmed that the Pelicans' management highly approves of Beal's performance both on and off the court last season. Besides him, only Trae Murphy III, Herbert Jones, Jeremiah Fils, and Derrick Quinn have contracts that extend into the 2028/29 season.
