The Pelicans secured a three-year, $55.5 million contract extension for Sadiq Bay.

September 18th - According to ESPN , the New Orleans Pelicans have reached a three- year, $ 55.5 million contract extension with forward Sadiq Bey, which includes trade bonus clauses. Following this extension, Bey will play for the Pelicans through the 2029-30 season on a fully guaranteed contract .

Beal suffered a torn ACL while playing for the Atlanta Hawks, missing the 2024-25 season. After returning to the Pelicans last season, he played 72 games, starting 64 , averaging 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, a career high in scoring.

Last season, Bay scored 42 points against the Jazz , and 36 and 34 points against the Grizzlies and 76ers , respectively . Since the All-Star break, he has averaged 20 points per game with a 40% three-point shooting percentage , while also setting career highs in both two-point attempts and free throws made.

Bay was selected in the first round of the 2020 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons. To date, he has played 364 games for the Pistons, Hawks, and Pelicans, averaging 14.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
