Joe Mazra believes that victories and experiences shape the Celtics' character.

The Boston Celtics will begin their preseason next month to prepare for the 2026/27 NBA regular season. Joe Mazra stated that regardless of past wins, losses, or different experiences, all of this will shape the team's character and identity for the new season.

In the 2025/26 NBA playoffs, the Boston Celtics, after scoring by Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and Nemias Cueta, ultimately lost 100-109 to the Philadelphia 76ers and were eliminated with a 3-4 series score.

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazra said, "I think the team will have a certain identity on the court, as well as a quality that is shaped throughout the season, depending on the challenges the team faces during the season."

Although Jaylen Brown was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, the addition of Paul George, Mike Conley, and Mitchell Robinson has raised expectations for the Boston Celtics' performance in the new season.

Joe Mazra said, "I think before the new season starts, we first need to realize that there are different perspectives within the team. We have some players who have been here for several years, and they have experienced both wins and losses."

“We have Mitchell Robinson now, who has just achieved something. Mike Conley also mentioned this, saying that he and Paul George haven’t reached that peak yet, so they have a different perspective and a sense of urgency to achieve their goals, and we need to translate that motivation into team strength.”

In addition, Joe Mazra stated, "The league has given us a different perspective, and we must find a way to make the most of it. In the process, we will collectively forge an identity. Wins will do this, losses will do this, daily practice and travel will do this, and we just need to keep working hard and constantly refining our teamwork."

"We learn something every time we win, and we also learn something every time we lose."
