Fulham manager Álvaro Arbeloa believes that even though the two teams are currently in different leagues, the League Cup match against West Ham United will not show a significant difference in their levels. West Ham United only managed 2 points in their first three games of the season, but quickly regained their form and are currently on a four-game winning streak in the league, topping the Championship table.
Álvaro Arbeloa said: "Yes, it has been a very busy week for me, with another London derby coming up. First Chelsea, then Crystal Palace, and now it's West Ham United's turn. This time we have to play away, and the game will be played in another very difficult stadium, and the opponents are in very good form right now."
“They thrashed Wrexham 6-0 in their last match and also beat Southampton in the League Cup, so we already know a bit about this team. They are very strong, with many excellent players, some of whom have extensive Premier League experience. Therefore, in my opinion, they don’t play like a Championship team. To beat them, we must put on a very good performance.”
When asked if the English League Cup offered Fulham a good chance to win the title, Álvaro Arbeloa made it clear that he hoped the team could continue to progress in the competition and go further.
He said, "For us, the goal in every match is always to win, and tomorrow will be no exception. Because if we can't win, we will be out of the competition. Therefore, we are very clear that this is a final-like match. We must defeat our opponents and strive to qualify for the next round, which is crucial for the team."
