Hull City completes contract extension with midfielder Matt Crooks..

Hull City announced on their official website on Saturday that the club has agreed to extend the contract of its English midfielder Matt Crooks.

According to the Hull City's official statement, Crooks has signed on a new short-term two-year deal which will only run until the summer of 2028, with an option to extend for a further year.

After completing his contract extension produres, Crooks, who was interviewed by the Hull City official website again, said: "It’s brilliant to sign this new contract. To be honest, I was probably the one pushing for it more than the club was!"

"I’ve had a great time here so far, getting to know all the teammates, staff, and people around the place. I have nothing but good things to say about it all. It’s been a really successful partnership, and I hope it continues that way."

"We’re a really tight-knit group; even though we’ve had some new faces join this year, we’ve kept a solid core, and the new signings have performed really well. For me personally, it was a no-brainer to sign the extension!"

"The last 18 months—especially the past year—have been some of the best of my career. Last season was a real highlight and a milestone moment for both me and the club. Personally, winning promotion to the Premier League was probably the best moment of my career so far."

About Matt Crooks

The 32-year-old Crooks was born on January 20, 1994, in Leeds, England. He is 1.91 meters tall and primarily plays as a center midfielder but can also play as an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder.

Crooks joined Manchester United's youth academy at the age of eight before moving to Huddersfield Town's youth academy in 2009.

Between January 2012 and March of the following year, Crooks spent time on loan at several non-league clubs. 

In August 2014, Crooks finally completed his Huddersfield Town first-team debut by coming on as a substitute.

Two months later, he was loaned-out to Hartlepool United.

After his contract was terminated in January 2015, Crooks joined Accrington Stanley on a free transfer.

In July of the following year, Crooks joined Rangers for a fee of £60,000 but was immediately loaned-out to Scunthorpe United.

In July 2017, Crooks joined Northampton Town for £100,000.

During his time at Northampton Town, his impressive performances attracted the attention of several EFL Championship clubs.

In January 2019, Crooks moved to Rotherham for £500,000.

In July 2021, Crooks joined Middlesbrough for £1.5 million.

During his two-and-a-half-year spell with Boro, he helped the team pull off upsets to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals and the FA Cup quarter-finals.

In February 2024, Crooks joined Real Salt Lake for £1 million.

The following January, Crooks joined Hull City on a free transfer.

Since joining the Tigers, Crooks has so far made 56 appearances across all competitions for the newly promoted Premier League side, scoring 8 goals, providing 5 assists, and helped the team win the EFL Championship promotion play-offs once.
