Mourinho strongly defends Mbappe: "The criticism from the outside world is pure selective blindness."

Ahead of Real Madrid's home game against Rayo Vallecano in the fifth round of La Liga, manager José Mourinho gave a strong response at the press conference to the recent criticism of the team's star striker Kylian Mbappé.

Mourinho quoted an old Portuguese proverb to describe Mbappe's current situation: "People only throw stones at trees laden with fruit. Mbappe is that fruitful tree, and criticism often comes with attention."

In response to public skepticism about Mbappe's fit with the tactical system, Mourinho firmly defended the French star in an interview: "A player who can score more than 40 goals in a single season will never be a problem for any team."

"When there is empathy, friendship, commitment, and respect in the locker room, all doubts are untenable. As the head coach, I can see some deeper things. It's normal for some people not to understand football; but some people clearly understand football, yet selectively ignore the positive aspects for specific purposes."

Mourinho specifically pointed out Mbappe's commitment and sacrificial spirit on the defensive end: "When the team was down to ten men after the 90th minute, Mbappe was exhausted on the left wing, but he still tracked back like a beast. I value this kind of attitude extremely much, and it's a pleasure to see players show this kind of fighting spirit."

“Critics only focus on the possibility that our defense might have had some lapses and that we might concede three or four goals, but why does no one mention that we are fully capable of scoring eight goals? Those who think they know football avoid talking about this, is it because winning the game makes them unhappy?”

Mourinho concluded by reiterating that the coaching staff and all players are highly united at the Valdebebas training ground, and the team is on the right track. Regardless of external controversies, the entire team will give their all for Real Madrid, striving to repay the fans with brilliant performances and victories.
