1. Derek Harper ( 5111 assists )

Harper played 17 seasons in the NBA , including two stints with the Dallas Mavericks. He maintained a consistent attendance rate for his first eight seasons, playing at least 77 games each season. His assist performance peaked in the 1986-87 season, averaging 7.9 assists per game, and he continued to average over 7.0 assists per game for the next four seasons. During his 12 seasons with the Mavericks , Harper averaged 5.9 assists per game.

2. Brad Davis ( 4524 assists )

Davis played 12 consecutive seasons with the Mavericks during his career . In six of those seasons, he played at least 80 games. After arriving in Dallas, Davis quickly became a reliable playmaker for the team, averaging over 6.2 assists per game for five consecutive seasons. In the 1982-83 season, he averaged 7.2 assists per game, setting a personal career high.

3. Jason Kidd ( 4211 assists )

In the 1994-95 season, Kidd began his professional career with the Mavericks, winning Rookie of the Year with averages of 11.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 7.7 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.
