Hull City completes contract extension with Scotland international striker Oli McBurnie..

Hull City announced on their official website on Wednesday that the club has agreed to a contract extension with their Scotland international striker Oli McBurnie.

According to the Hull City's official statement, McBurnie has signed on a new three-year deal which runs until the summer of 2029, with an option to extend for a further year.

After completing his contract extension procedures, McBurnie, who was interviewed by the Hull City official website again, said: "I’m absolutely delighted. I came here last year, and as a team and a club, we’ve had a fantastic year."

"When we discussed the extension in the summer, the deal was wrapped up very quickly; for me, it was a no-brainer. My family and I are settled here—my children and fiancée love it and really feel at home—so I didn't hesitate to stay and get ready for the challenges of the new season."

"It was an easy decision to make. From day one, the way the fans have embraced and shown affection for me and my family has made me feel so welcome; the teammates, staff, chairman, and manager have all treated me with the same warmth."

"After speaking with my agent, I made the decision quickly. I’m thrilled that the club has put their trust in me again, just as they did last summer, and I hope to repay that faith with my performances, just like I did last season."

About Oli McBurnie

The 30-year-old McBurnie was born on June 4, 1996, in Leeds, England. He is 1.88 meters tall, plays as a center foward and is of Scottish descent.

A lifelong Rangers fan, McBurnie joined the Leeds United youth academy at a young age but was released when he was 14. After leaving Leeds United, McBurnie joined Bradford City's youth academy and even played for Manchester United's youth team as a trialist.

In August 2013, at just 17 years old, McBurnie completed his Bradford City first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in an FA Cup match, becoming one of the youngest debutant in the club's history.

In January 2015, McBurnie was loaned-out to Chester.

That July, he moved to Swansea City for a fee of £250,000.

During his four-year spell with the Swans, McBurnie won the Premier League Cup and had loan spells at Newport County, Bristol Rovers, and Barnsley.

In August 2019, McBurnie moved to Sheffield United for £20 million, becoming the second most expensive Scottish player in history.

During his five-year spell with the Blades" McBurnie was one of the few players in the squad that consistently deliver strong individual performances.

After leaving upon the expiration of his contract in the summer of 2024, McBurnie joined Las Palmas on a free transfer.

However, he struggled to perform at his best due to the language barrier.

After terminating his contract in August 2025, McBurnie joined Hull City on a free transfer.

Since joining the Tigers, McBurnie has so far made 45 appearances across all competitions for the newly promoted Premier League side, scoring 19 goals and providing 8 assists, while also helping the team win the EFL Championship promotion play-offs.
