Quentin Grimes looks forward to an offensive and defensive challenge with the Lakers.

In a recent interview, NBA shooting guard Quentin Grimes stated that joining the Los Angeles Lakers was an easy decision, and he also hopes to play an important role on both offense and defense under JJ Redick's leadership.

Quentin Grimes, 26, previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers. In the 2025/26 NBA regular season, he played 75 games, averaging 13.4 points per game with a field goal percentage of 45.0% and a three-point percentage of 33.4%.

Just last month, Quentin Grimes joined the Los Angeles Lakers and signed a four-year contract.

Quentin Grimes stated, "As a player, everyone wants to be needed by the team. I feel that there has been mutual interest between me and the Los Angeles Lakers for quite some time."

"Nobody expected Luka Doncic to come to the Los Angeles Lakers. We had a great time with the Dallas Mavericks. I knew Redick, Vanderbilt, Kurt Ramby, and assistant coach Greg Saint-Jean. So it was almost a no-brainer, and honestly, it was a great fit."

It's worth noting that with LeBron James leaving the Los Angeles Lakers after many years, players like Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves will have to play a more important core role for Redick's team in the new NBA season.

When asked about his role with the Los Angeles Lakers, Quentin Grimes said, "When I talked to Redick and the team, they were able to clearly explain to me what role the team wanted me to play, which was definitely the most important thing."

“I will play an important role on the offensive end, and I will also take on a lot of leadership responsibility on the defensive end. In every game, I am willing to accept the challenge of guarding the opponent's best player and take the initiative to assume that responsibility, and I hope to meet that challenge in every game.”
