Jason Kidd believes Cooper Flagg is on track to match LeBron James' achievements.

NBA legend Jason Kidd said that Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg is on a good track and believes the young player has the potential to match the achievements of superstar LeBron James in the future.

The 19-year-old Cooper Flagg impressed the Dallas Mavericks, who drafted him with the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft and subsequently signed with the team.

In the 2025/26 NBA regular season, Cooper Flagg played 70 games for the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 21.0 points per game with a 46.8% field goal percentage and a 29.5% three-point percentage. Furthermore, Flagg's outstanding performance earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie Team.

Former Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said, "I think if you compare Cooper Flagg to a young LeBron James, his current growth trajectory is in line with expectations, and Cooper Flagg himself has that ability."

“He really likes players who win, crave victory, and are willing to work hard. When you see him playing at Duke, he dares to take game-winning shots in crucial moments, and even if he doesn’t make them, you know he’s not afraid of those moments. So I would say he’s on the right track right now.”

Jason Kidd also said, "I think LeBron James is a role model for Cooper Flagg. Of course, the next thing to see is whether he can stay healthy like LeBron James."

"I believe the ultimate measure of a great player is the number of NBA championships. Compared to statistics, the number of championships is a more important standard. Of course, that's the statistic that best reflects a player's achievements, and I hope that Cooper Flagg will eventually achieve that as well."
