Flynn Towns: We must improve our ability to control the game and lock in wins.

Flynn Towns believes Southampton need to be more decisive in the game. Facing a late equalizer from Lincoln City, Southampton ultimately had to settle for a draw, once again missing out on victory.  

In the first half, Wellington broke the deadlock for Southampton with a brilliant shot, giving the away team an early lead at Proampa Park Stadium. However, in the final stages of the match, Mikel Radfogger stepped up to score the equalizer, ultimately helping the home team hold on for a point.  

After conceding a draw against Birmingham City in their away game, Flynn Towns was very disappointed that his team had failed to hold onto their lead in two consecutive matches.  

Flynn Towns said: "I'm really disappointed, and to be honest, I'm quite frustrated right now. This performance is far from enough, and we should be winning these kinds of games. It was the same in the last game against Birmingham City. We have to improve our ability to control the game and lock down wins."  

Furthermore, Flynn Towns pointed out that Southampton gradually abandoned their original rhythm towards the end of the game, allowing Lincoln City to apply constant pressure with a more direct attacking approach. He said, "We can't just try to hold onto the current score, because today's game has shown what the consequences of doing so will ultimately be."  

“We are well aware of Lincoln City’s style of play. They frequently use long passes to bring the game into a more physical contest, competing for the first ball and subsequent second ball possession. This style of play does not suit our style, and we know that if we are led into that rhythm, the situation will be very unfavorable for us.”  

“We must take responsibility in crucial moments, whether we are starting players or substitutes. Everyone on the team needs to make an impact; we can't continue playing like this.”
