The Miami Heat have been a franchise for 38 years, producing many outstanding defensive players. Here are the top five Heat players in franchise history for most blocks:

1. Alonzo Mourning ( 1625 blocks)

Alonzo Mourning was selected second overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1992 NBA draft and subsequently joined the Miami Heat for the 1995-96 season. During his time with the Heat, he played 407 games, averaging 19.8 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 steals, and 2.9 blocks per game. Mourning was a two-time league leader in blocks and a two-time Defensive Player of the Year. In the 1998-99 season, he averaged 3.9 blocks per game and finished in the top three in MVP voting. In the 1999-00 season, he again led the league with an average of 3.7 blocks per game.

2. Dwyane Wade ( 812 blocks)

Standing at just 6 feet 4 inches (approximately 1.93 meters), Dwyane Wade ranks second on the Miami Heat's all-time list of blocks. During his 15 seasons with the Heat, he averaged 0.9 blocks per game. Wade was a 12- time All-Star, an 8- time All-NBA selection, and a 3- time All-Defensive Team selection. He also won three NBA championships and was named Finals MVP in the 2005-06 season .

3. Hassan Whiteside ( 783 blocks)

After joining the Heat in the 2014-15 season, Whiteside averaged 11.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game in his rookie season. In the 2015-16 season, he averaged 3.7 blocks per game, becoming the league's leading shot blocker for the first time and earning a spot on the All-Defensive Second Team. Whiteside played 324 games for the Heat, averaging 2.4 blocks per game, ultimately ranking third in Heat history with 783 blocks.

4. Ronnie Sekkali ( 610 blocks)

Sekkali was the first player drafted by the Heat in franchise history, selected 9th overall in the 1988 NBA Draft . He played six seasons with the Heat, appearing in 439 games and averaging 15.4 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. In 1990 , Sekkali won the Most Improved Player award, beating Reggie Miller , with a career-best 1.7 blocks per game .

5. Bam Adebayo ( 538 blocks)

Bam Adebayo, the Heat's 14th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft , remains a core member of the team. In the 2019-20 season, he became a full-time starter, averaging 15.9 points, 10.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 1.1 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game. To date, Adebayo ranks fifth in Heat franchise history with 538 blocks and has helped the team reach the NBA Finals twice.
