The Nets retain Grant Nelson on a two-way contract to start the new season.

September 6th - According to HoopsHype reporter Michael Scotto , the Brooklyn Nets have officially signed forward Grant Nelson to a two-way contract.

Nelson is 7 feet tall (approximately 2.13 meters). He played for the University of Alabama in college and went undrafted in the 2025 NBA Draft. Last season, he spent most of his time with the Long Island Nets, the Nets' G League affiliate. In 23 games, he averaged 19.3 minutes, 11.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, shooting 54.9% from the field and 80.9% from the free-throw line .

Based on his outstanding performance in the G League, Nelson secured a 10- day contract with the Nets at the end of February 2026. During this period, he played 4 games, totaling 35 minutes, contributing 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The Nets did not sign him to a second 10- day contract, and Nelson missed the final month of the season due to patellar tendinitis. Although he returned to the Long Island Nets, he did not play again and even missed the 2026 Summer League due to injury.

The Nets currently have two two-way players, Channey Johnson and Tyler Bilodo , and Nelson will become the team's third two-way contract player. Next season, he can travel between the Nets and the Long Island Nets, and can play a maximum of 50 regular season games for the Nets.
