The transfer to Liverpool has fallen through, and manager Sarr says he needs time to calm down.

At the pre-match press conference for the Premier League away game against Fulham, Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sager admitted that Senegalese striker Ismaila Sarr needs time to process the disappointment of his failed transfer to Liverpool.

As Crystal Palace's top scorer last season, 28-year-old Sarr was very close to joining Liverpool before the summer transfer window closed, but the blockbuster deal ultimately fell through at the last minute.

In response to Sarr's disappointment, Sarr showed great understanding and tolerance in an interview: "He definitely needs time to process this, because for many players, playing for a club of this level is a dream. He had a great opportunity before, but ultimately it didn't come to pass."

"If he wants to continue, he has to have a great season here, just like last year. We know he needs time. As with any bad situation, time heals all wounds, and we need to give this some time."

Sarr is currently suffering from a groin injury, which caused him to miss the two league matches at the beginning of the season, against Everton and Manchester City. He will also remain sidelined for this weekend's match against Fulham.

In addition, due to Sarr's uncertain future, Crystal Palace had made a strong pursuit of Lyon's 21-year-old Belgian star Malik Fofana on deadline day, but the latter eventually transferred to Sunderland for £30 million.
