American reporter: The Kings have no intention of renewing Sabonis' contract, and the player is also considering leaving the team.

According to multiple reporters, including Brian Windhorst, Domantas Sabonis' career with the Sacramento Kings is nearing its end. The Kings are not interested in re-signing Sabonis, and Sabonis himself is considering joining another team.

It's worth noting that Sabonis has two years and $94 million remaining on his contract. He has been eligible for an early extension since July of this year, but the Kings' management has no intention of initiating related negotiations.

Windhorst further pointed out that Sabonis's move to change agents is seen as a positive sign of seeking a departure. His new agent is Aaron Mintz of CAA, who has assisted several players, including Trae Young and Walker Kessler, in completing difficult transfers in recent years.

However, Sabonis's future remains uncertain. His lack of rim protection and inconsistent three-point shooting make him uncompetitive in the trade market.

Arvydas Sabonis, the 11th overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft, previously played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers. He gradually developed into one of the league's best interior players with both teams, accumulating 400 regular-season games, averaging 14.2 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 28.3 minutes per game, with a 53.3% field goal percentage and a 32.2% three-point percentage.

In February 2022, Sabonis was sent to the Kings in a trade involving Tyrese Haliburton. To date, he has played 265 regular season games for the Kings, averaging 19.0 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 6.9 assists in 34.6 minutes per game, and has won numerous individual accolades, including one All-Star selection and three rebounding titles.
