Olmo's bid for Alvarez was rejected, and he expressed his bewilderment at Atletico Madrid's tough stance.

Barcelona midfield maestro Dani Olmo recently stated publicly that he cannot understand why Atletico Madrid refused to engage in any negotiations with Barcelona regarding the transfer of Julian Alvarez.

Olmo pointed out that it is understandable for players to work hard for their professional dreams, but it is frustrating that they are hindered by uncontrollable obstacles at the club level.

When asked about Alvarez's transfer while attending an event in his hometown of Terraza, Olmo frankly stated, "I completely cannot understand Atletico Madrid's position."

“We all have our own dreams, and Julian is very clear on this point. He has indeed done his best to pursue his dreams. But reality often involves external factors that are beyond one’s control. In such cases, there is no point in saying more.”

This summer, Barcelona offered over €100 million for Alvarez, and the player himself was extremely eager to join the Camp Nou, even rejecting an offer from Premier League giants Arsenal. However, Atletico Madrid's firm stance proved to be an insurmountable obstacle.

Atletico Madrid CEO Gil Marin had previously stated publicly that he would never sell players to Barcelona and had formally filed a complaint with FIFA against Barcelona for illegally contacting players privately, leading to a complete breakdown in negotiations between the two sides' top officials.

After Alvarez's transfer fell through, Barcelona quickly secured Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus to alleviate their immediate financial crisis. Speaking about the locker room's mentality after the failed transfer, Olmo said, "As I said, life goes on, and we can't stop moving forward."

"The team made several excellent signings this summer, and the competition within the team is healthy. We are still looking forward to a great season."
