Bayer Leverkusen officially re-signed Al-Ittihad's France international winger Moussa Diaby..

Bayer Leverkusen announced on their official website on Tuesday that they have re-signed Al-Ittihad's France international winger Moussa Diaby.

According to Leverkusen's official statement, Diaby has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031. He will also wear the number 19 jersey.

After completing his transfer procedures, Diaby, who was interviewed by the Leverkusen official website again, said: "When I first came to Germany, I was a very young and inexperienced player. Leverkusen gave me a lot of trust and support. I have always remembered that and have always kept in touch with Simon (Rolfes - sporting director).

"When I received the inquiry and the transfer became possible, I agreed without hesitation. Over the years, the club has grown a lot. Competing for titles with Leverkusen is an important goal for me." 

About Moussa Diaby

The 27-year-old Diaby was born on July 7, 1999, in Paris, France. He is 1.7 meters tall and primarily plays as a right winger, but can also play as a left winger, center forward, or attacking midfielder. He holds dual French and Malian citizenship.

Diaby joined Paris Saint-Germain's youth academy at the age of 13 and completed his first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in August 2018. 

During his time with the club, he won one Ligue 1 title and one Trophée des Champions, and was also loaned-out to Crotone.

In July 2019, Diaby joined Bayer Leverkusen for €15 million.

During his five-year spell with Die Werkself, Diaby, along with Kai Havertz, Florian Wirtz, and Patrick Schick, was ranked among the top young players at the Bundesliga powerhouse for his outstanding performances, during which he led the team to one DFB-Pokal final.

In July 2023, Diaby joined Aston Villa for €50 million.

During his time at Villa, Diaby scored the fastest and most powerful goal of the year in the Premier League against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The following July, Diaby joined Al-Ittihad for €60 million.

During his two-year spell with Al-Ittihad, Diaby made 73 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 33 assists, winning one Saudi Pro League title and one Saudi King's Cup.
