Celta Vigo officially re-signed Liverpool defensive midfielder Stefan Bajčetić..

Celta Vigo announced on their official website on Tuesday that they have re-signed Liverpool's Spain U21s international defensive midfielder wonderkid Stefan Bajčetić.

According to Celta Vigo's official statement, Bajčetić has signed on a three-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2029.

Furthermore, according to The Athletic's resident renowned Liverpool team correspondent James Pearce, the La Liga club paid Liverpool £1.5 million to re-sign Bajčetić. Liverpool will retain Bajčetić's buy-back clause and a sell-on clause.

Due to a serious injury that sidelined him for several years, Bajčetić will first play for Celta Vigo's reserve team to regain match fitness before gradually play for its first-team.

About Stefan Bajčetić

Bajčetić, who is only still 21 years old, was born on October 22, 2004, in Vigo, Spain. He is 1.85 meters tall and primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, but can also play as a center-back. His father, Srđan, is a former foreign player at Dalian Shide and Hunan Xiangjun, and is currently the head coach of Celta Vigo's youth academy. His elder brother, Jovan, is also a member of Celta Vigo's reserve team. Like his brother, Bajčetić holds dual Spanish and Serbian citizenship.

Bajčetić joined Celta Vigo's youth academy as a child when his father was playing for them previously. He was later scouted by Liverpool's youth academy director, Alex Ingelthorpe, and after successful persuasion, agreed to join the Reds at the end of December 2020 for €250,000.

After arriving at Liverpool, Bajčetić quickly established himself in the youth academy and was promoted to the U18s team. He then made an unprecedented move by joining the team during their pre-season tour of Asia, traveling to Thailand and Singapore to train and play alongside the first-team.

In August 2022, Bajčetić completed his first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in Liverpool's 9-0 thrashing of Bournemouth in the Premier League. Three months later, he started in a Carabao Cup third-round match against Derby County.

At the end of December, Bajčetić scored his first professional goal shortly after coming on as a substitute in a league match against Aston Villa, immediately showcasing his exceptional talent. Later, he even played in three Champions League group stage matches, becoming one of the youngest players in Liverpool's history to appear in the Champions League, following Harvey Elliott, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Billy Koumetio.

However, since suffering a season-ending adductor injury in March 2023, Bajčetić's development has been severely hampered.

On the 2024 summer transfer window deadline day, Bajčetić was loaned-out to Red Bull Salzburg.

However, due to the club changing managers mid-season, Bajčetić's time at Salzburg ended prematurely.

On the deadine day of the following year's winter transfer window, Bajčetić joined Las Palmas on-loan.

During his time at Las Palmas, Bajčetić made 14 appearances for the Segunda División club, scoring one goal.
