Oladipo published a lengthy job posting, hoping for a chance to return to the NBA.

Victor Oladipo sent a letter to team general managers on Tuesday, hoping for a chance to return to the NBA.

The 34-year-old Victor Oladipo is a 6'6" (1.91m) combo guard who entered the NBA in June 2013 as the second overall pick. He played for the Orlando Magic, Oklahoma City Thunder, Indiana Pacers, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat, appearing in 504 regular season games. He averaged 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals in 32.2 minutes per game, earning numerous accolades including two All-Star selections, one All-Defensive First Team selection, and one steals title.

Oladipo also played 33 playoff games, averaging 14.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.6 steals in 29.6 minutes per game. His most representative playoff achievement was undoubtedly leading the Heat to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2022.

However, Oladipo's career took a sharp turn for the worse starting in 2019. After suffering severe injuries to his right quadriceps and left patellar tendon, he has not played in the NBA since 2023.

Despite this, Oladipo has not given up on his dream of returning to the NBA. Last season, he maintained his competitive form with the Wisconsin Herds, the Bucks' G League affiliate, averaging 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game.

In his open letter, Oladipo directly expressed his desire to return to the NBA to the entire league: "I want to say to any general manager who is willing to listen: I believe that my body has finally returned to its best condition. I believe that I can still deliver excellent performances on the court in the future, and more importantly, I can help the team win. I believe that I can be an extremely valuable member of the NBA locker room. And what I am seeking now is simply an opportunity to prove myself."

Oladipo further pointed out that his daughter was the driving force behind his comeback: "As Nomi grows up, if one day she wants to learn from my life, or mark certain chapters in my story... I truly hope that this is the page she revisits most often. I hope that in difficult times, this is the page she can turn to for help. I hope that when she turns back to this page, she will realize that she is as strong as her father... but also, like her father, allows herself to show her vulnerability. As long as it comes from the heart, that is a strength. And I am incredibly proud of her."

At the end of the letter, Oladipo wrote: “I don’t know how my journey will ultimately end… Maybe a team will give me a chance. Maybe not. It’s entirely up to you. If you’re in the NBA front office and have taken the time to read this: I thank you from the bottom of my heart. About my basketball story… from the first page to the last, there’s one thing I can always assure you. It’s a story about love.”

As of now, Oladipo's future remains uncertain. In July, he held an open workout in Las Vegas, which was attended by representatives from several teams, including the Sacramento Kings, to observe his performance. If a team is willing to give him a chance in the coming weeks, Oladipo could be entering his 13th NBA season.
