Luke Thomas: The team must solve the goal-scoring problem as soon as possible and strive for victory.

Luke Thomas has recently taken on a more central role in Leicester City's defense, and he remains optimistic about the team's current form. He believes Leicester City are gradually approaching their first win of the season. Next, the team will host Plymouth Argyle. Just three days after their 0-0 draw with Milton Keynes last week, Leicester City will once again be on the pitch, continuing their pursuit of their first league victory of the 2026/27 season.  

Luke Thomas is pleased with the team's recent competitiveness and believes Leicester City are gradually finding the conditions to win games. Speaking about his personal situation, he also mentioned his recent tactical position adjustment. Since last week, Luke Thomas has been playing as a left-sided center-back.  

Leicester City's 0-0 draw against Milton Keynes last week fell short of expectations from Russell Martin and his team. Despite dominating possession and creating chances, Leicester City failed to score and ultimately took a point from Milton Keynes Stadium.  

The player, who came through Leicester City's youth academy, is confident about the team's future, saying: "I think as long as we maintain the form we've shown in the last two games, victory will come sooner or later. We've been able to consistently penetrate the opponent's danger zones and create scoring opportunities. The most important thing now is to maintain our initiative and confidence when in possession, while continuing our high-intensity performance from previous games. If we keep at it, we'll soon be on a winning streak."  

"I think we fully deserved the win based on our overall performance. What we really lacked was the final touch, turning the chances we created into goals. Especially towards the end of the game, we created a series of threats, had more possession, and pushed our attacks into the opponent's penalty area on several occasions. What the team needs to do now is improve the quality of our final touches."  

“Sometimes that’s how games are. If things were different, we might already have three points. But now we won’t dwell on the past; instead, we’ll focus on the next game. We need to find a way to score as soon as possible and try to win.”  

"We dominated the game for most of it. We kept pressing to regain possession and then quickly launched the next attack. In the second half, our opponents started to play more directly, so as long as we won the ball back, we could quickly push the attack back into their half. Unfortunately, we never managed to finish the attack. As long as we continue to create these chances, I believe a goal will come sooner or later, and the result will improve."  

25-year-old Luke Thomas has been deployed as a left center-back in the last two matches. He hasn't shown much discomfort with this tactical adjustment, instead embracing the new challenge. He stated that his adaptation to the role has been quite smooth, adding, "Actually, there are many similarities between these two positions. Both full-backs and center-backs need to shoulder a lot of similar defensive tasks, but when playing in the center, you usually have more time to receive the ball, observe, and choose your next move."
