The third round of the 2026/27 La Liga season will feature another key match, with defending champions Barcelona hosting Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou. Flick stated that Spanish winger Yamal is on the right track and he is not worried about the young player's form.
In an earlier La Liga rescheduled match, Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao 2-0 after goals from Rafinha and Fermín, securing their second consecutive victory.
However, since the start of the new season, 19-year-old Yamar has yet to score a goal.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick said, "It's always a good thing to see the players smiling. Everyone has a different mood every day, and I can't smile every day either. I know everyone is worried about Yamar's form and how he is doing, but we have to look at this in light of the actual situation."
“He participated in the World Cup after suffering a serious injury and has now returned to the team after only three weeks of rest. He may not be at his best in the first game, but I am happy that he was able to start and fight for the team.”
Flick noted, "He created more chances for us against Elche, which was excellent. Then he played the full 90 minutes against Athletic Bilbao. For his current situation, being able to play for 90 minutes is also a good thing."
“In some matches, we’ve seen him play at a top level. And in recent training sessions, we’ve seen him perform exceptionally well again. This is the Yamar we all love to see; he’s moving in the right direction. We must support him, and we certainly will.”
Furthermore, when discussing Rafinha's performance, Flick said, "As a number 9, you always need to initiate pressure first, and he did that very well."
“He is one of our leaders on the field. When he takes the lead in raising the intensity of the game and setting the pace, everyone gets involved. He is also very efficient in front of goal, which is why we play him in that position.”
