Carlos Colberán: We didn't perform as expected, and the whole team is disappointed with the result.

Valencia lost to Deportivo La Coruña in the third round of La Liga. After the match, head coach Carlos Colberán attended the press conference and gave an interview to the media about the team's overall performance in the game.  

Carlos Colberán bluntly stated that the team's performance in this match was disappointing. He said, "If I had to sum up this game in one word, I would choose 'embarrassing,' especially the first half. The team was completely out of form, and this is the first time I've seen the team perform like this in the first half since I started coaching Valencia. Our performance was indeed far below expectations."  

"The problem stemmed first from our mental state as we entered the game. The team didn't approach the game like a truly competitive team should, instead presenting a completely different image. Especially the first 15 minutes, which was the worst period of the team's performance since I took over as coach. Such a sluggish start put us on the back foot from the very beginning and ultimately had a decisive impact on the result of the game. This kind of performance must never happen again."  

"This is not a problem that can be solved by simply bringing in new players. More importantly, everyone must take responsibility. Today, our overall performance was clearly below normal. Even at the beginning of the game, our attitude and commitment were not as good as Deportivo La Coruña's. In many positions, we were firmly contained by our opponents."  

“I will not shirk my responsibility, because I was the one who ultimately decided on the starting lineup. We cannot expect to solve all the problems through signings; what is more important is to improve the team’s own competitiveness first. Today’s result and performance have been very disappointing, and as a team, we must feel ashamed of our performance. Valencia should have shown a higher standard, and we clearly did not do so today.”  

"We need to analyze our current situation objectively, because the team clearly didn't enter the game in the right form today. A poor start made us very passive in the later stages of the game. Going forward, we must show stronger fighting spirit, a clearer game plan, and enough confidence at the start of the game. As the head coach, I also need to take responsibility and find better solutions. Everyone should start by improving themselves to ensure that the team can start the next game with a completely different look."  

"As I said before, there was a clear gap between our performance in the early stages of the match and the intensity and demands required for La Liga. As the head coach, I must take responsibility for this, and it is a duty I cannot shirk. We did not do what we should have done, so the whole team is disappointed with today's performance."
