The Rockets have officially signed Rafael Castro to a two-way contract.

August 30 - The Houston Rockets officially announced that they have signed center Rafael Castro to a two-way contract .

 

Castro spent his first three seasons at Providence College before transferring to George Washington University. During his junior and senior years, he started all 63 games, averaging 14.6 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.52 blocks, and 1.48 steals per game, while shooting 64.4% from the field .

 

It is worth mentioning that during these two seasons, Castro and Axel Lundberg were the only two players in NCAA Division I to simultaneously achieve averages of at least 14.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.50 blocks, and 1.40 steals per game .

 

Defense was one of Castro's most prominent traits during his college years. He was a two-time Atlantic Ten All-Defensive Team selection and a finalist for the 2025-26 Revet Drissell Defensive Player of the Year award .
