The Raptors will retire Kyle Lowry's No. 7 jersey: the second player in franchise history to do so after Vince Carter.

August 28th - According to ESPN, the Toronto Raptors will officially retire Kyle Lowry's No. 7 jersey. Lowry will become the second player in Raptors history, after Vince Carter, to have his jersey retired .

The Toronto Raptors have announced that they will officially retire Kyle Lowry's No. 7 jersey after their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10, 2027. The 76ers are Lowry's hometown team and the team he played for for the last two and a half seasons of his career .

Kyle Lowry, 40 , signed a one-day contract with the Raptors on July 7 and announced the end of his 20-year NBA career on the same day. The choice of July 7 for the signing also echoed his number 7 jersey .

“I’ve been looking forward to this moment for many years. I’ve always said that Toronto is my home, and I will retire as a Raptors player. Seeing my number 7 jersey raised to the top of the arena means a lot to me,” Lowry said .

Lowry played nine seasons for the Raptors , earning six All-Star selections and helping the team win their only NBA championship in franchise history during the 2018-19 season. He also played for the Grizzlies, Rockets, Heat, and 76ers , appearing in 1,187 regular season games throughout his career , averaging 13.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game, and making a total of 2,209 three-pointers, ranking 14th in NBA history .
