The Athletic's resident renowned English Liverpool team correspondent James Pearce, exclusively reported on Thursday that Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have officially reached an agreement on the transfer of France international forward Bradley Barcola.

According to Pearce's report, his industry colleague (independent team correspondent Jack Lusby) had just exclusively revealed the day before that both Liverpool and PSG would appoint their respective largest shareholders, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and Nasser Al-Khlaifi, to personally conduct crucial negotiations regarding Barcola's transfer fee and payment terms.

However, he never expected that this complicated transfer deal, which had involved numerous back-and-forth negotiations over two months, would progress so smoothly in just a few hours.

He said, Liverpool will pay Paris Saint-Germain an initial fee of £100 million, with potential additions and performance-related bonuses, bringing the total transfer fee to €140 million to sign Barcola.

Next, the sporting directors, player's agents, and legal representatives of both club will exchange and verify documents before arranging for Barcola to arrive in the UK as soon as possible to complete his medical and contract signing procedures.

On the other hand, Pearce also stated that Barcola's arrival could very well have a ripple effect on the winger positions in the Premier League giants' squad.

Netherlands international striker Cody Gakpo has recently received offers from several clubs, making it uncertain whether he will remain a Liverpool player after the summer transfer window closes.

Although Liverpool has never decided whether to accept offers for him, Tottenham Hotspur has still approached the player's agents.

Meanwhile, Manchester City, which has recently sold several key players, has also begun approching Gakpo's agents.

It is worth mentioning that since publicly announcing that he will not renew his contract with his club and remains open to joining Liverpool, Barcoa has deliberately been excluded from matchday squads, demonstrating Paris Saint-Germain's determination to sever ties with him.
