The Toronto Raptors announced they will retire the No. 7 jersey of their legendary guard Kyle Lowry.

The Toronto Raptors have officially announced that they will hold a jersey retirement ceremony for their legendary guard Kyle Lowry after their home game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10. His No. 7 jersey will be officially raised to the rafters of Scotiabank Arena.

Lowry was the core leader of the Raptors during their most successful era. In his nine seasons with the Raptors, he led the team to the playoffs seven times, reached the Eastern Conference Finals twice, and won the franchise’s first NBA championship in 2019. He is widely regarded as the Raptors’ greatest player of all time.

Furthermore, as a six-time All-Star, Lowry still holds the Raptors' franchise records for total assists, total steals, and three-pointers made. Lowry will become only the second Raptors player, after Vince Carter, whose number 15 jersey will be retired in 2024, to receive this honor.

Lowry stated that Toronto is his home, and witnessing his jersey retirement as a Raptors player is of great significance to him. He is very much looking forward to sharing this important moment with his family, teammates, management, and fans across Canada.

To coincide with the jersey retirement ceremony, the Raptors will launch a series of celebrations starting January 7, including distributing commemorative T-shirts and limited-edition bobbleheads to fans in attendance during their games against the Minnesota Timberwolves on January 7 and the Utah Jazz on January 8, culminating in the jersey retirement ceremony on January 10.
