Fontecio looks forward to fighting alongside Antetokounmpo.

Miami Heat small forward Fontecio said in an interview that he currently has no plans to return to Europe to play, and is also looking forward to playing alongside his new teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The 30-year-old Fonteco joined the Miami Heat in July last year and played 70 games for the Miami Heat in the 2025/26 NBA regular season, averaging 8.5 points per game with a field goal percentage of 41.2% and a three-point field goal percentage of 37.5%.

Fontecio stated, "This summer, we didn't even consider playing back in Europe. So I don't even know the specifics because we didn't look for any offers from Europe at all. When the opportunity to join the Miami Heat came up, I accepted it immediately."

In addition, Giannis Antetokounmpo, 31, joined the Miami Heat in July.

Speaking about his new teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo, Fonteque said, "I am very excited and curious about meeting him and playing alongside him. In fact, the team made it clear before the free agency market opened that they wanted to keep me, which made me feel more at ease and more inclined to stay here."

As for his long-term plans, Fonteque said, "To be honest, I don't have any specific plans right now. I just want to enjoy everything in front of me, including the next two national team matches and the incredibly exciting professional season that follows."
