Bruno Fernandez and Cardia Shaw won the PFA Player of the Year award.

The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) has officially announced the winners of its latest annual awards. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City Women's striker Katia Shaw were named the Men's and Women's Player of the Year, respectively.

Previously, both players had won the Football Writers' Association (FWA) Player of the Year award, achieving a double sweep of individual honors.

Fernandes had a standout season in the Premier League, providing 21 assists, breaking the Premier League record for most assists in a single season. He also became the first Manchester United player to win the PFA Player of the Year award since Wayne Rooney in 2010.

In women's football, Manchester City striker Shaw won the honor twice in three seasons. She won the Women's Premier League Golden Boot for the third consecutive year with 21 league goals and led her team to the league title.

In the young player awards, Manchester City's 21-year-old versatile defender Nico O'Reilly was named PFA Young Player of the Year. He scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 34 league appearances, while also helping his team achieve 9 clean sheets; in the League Cup final victory against Arsenal, he scored twice and was named Man of the Match.

Arsenal Women's 22-year-old Canadian international Olivia Smith has successfully defended her title as the Women's Young Player of the Year. Since joining from Liverpool last year for £1 million, she has scored 10 goals in all competitions, becoming only the second woman in history to win the award multiple times.
