RB Leipzig welcomes back Christoph Nkunku, with both sides reaching a loan agreement.

RB Leipzig have officially announced the re-signing of French striker Christoph Nkunku on loan from AC Milan for the entire 2026/27 season. The agreement includes an option to buy, giving Leipzig the choice to sign him permanently in the future. Returning to the familiar Red Bull Stadium after many years, Christoph Nkunku will once again begin his Leipzig career.  

This return holds special significance for both Christoph Nkunku and RB Leipzig. Nkunku previously played for Leipzig for four seasons, making 172 appearances in official matches, contributing 70 goals and 56 assists, directly involved in 126 goals. During his time with the club, he also helped Leipzig win the German Cup for two consecutive seasons, leaving an impressive record.  

RB Leipzig's sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, welcomed the return of Christoph Nkunku, saying : " We are delighted to welcome Christoph Nkunku back. He has proven himself to be exceptionally talented and capable of making decisive contributions in matches. He is very familiar with the club, the city, and the surrounding environment, and can play in multiple attacking positions. His return will further enrich our attacking options and provide the team with more tactical possibilities."  

“We were delighted to learn that Christoph Nkunku wanted to play for RB Leipzig again. His decision to return despite offers from other top European clubs demonstrates the special bond he has built with the club and reflects his appreciation and affection for Leipzig.”  

Christopher Nkunku is also very excited about returning to RB Leipzig, saying : " When I learned that I had the opportunity to rejoin RB Leipzig, I hardly hesitated and immediately wanted to accept. I am very happy to be back here. My physical and competitive condition is very good at the moment, and I hope to get back into the game as soon as possible and help the team. I can't wait to stand on the Red Bull Arena again and play in front of familiar fans."

Now, I am ready to write a new chapter in my story in Leipzig. With Christoph Nkunku's official return, he will once again don the familiar RB Leipzig jersey. His extensive Bundesliga experience and outstanding attacking ability will undoubtedly inject new vitality into the team's attack and he is expected to become a key scoring threat for Leipzig in the 2026/27 season.
