Savinho: I've always wanted to come to Tottenham Hotspur

22-year-old Savinho has officially joined Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur. In an interview, the winger said that he had always hoped to join the club and looked forward to achieving great things with the "Lilywhites".

The Brazilian Savinho previously played for Manchester City, making 24 appearances in the 2025/26 Premier League season and scoring one goal, while also contributing an assist in the Champions League. In terms of awards, Savinho also won the English League Cup and the FA Cup with Manchester City last season.

In addition, De Zerbi's team signed Robertson, Tonali, Van Heck and Senesi during the summer transfer window, striving to return to their former position.

"It took some time, but I'm finally here now," Savinho said in an interview. "I think everyone in my family knows that I've always wanted to come here since Tottenham Hotspur extended an invitation to me."

Savinho said, "Tottenham Hotspur has one of the best managers in the world, the best training ground, and the best stadium in the world. It's all fantastic. Every time I come here to play against Tottenham Hotspur, I talk to my agent about the club. When he told me that the club was interested in me, I was really happy. As I said, I've always wanted to come here, and now it's finally happening."

“I hope to reach the highest level with the club’s well-established system, whether it’s the training facilities, the stadium, or a world-class manager. I believe we can reach the top. Of course, there are also my teammates. We can compete for the Premier League title and even qualify for the Champions League. There are many possibilities in the future, but we must always remain humble.”

Speaking about manager De Zerbi, Savinho said, "The manager told me that he wanted to help me reach another level and the highest level. I think when a manager contacts you personally and tells you this, you have to come here. When he contacted me, I thought to myself, I really have to go there, because not every manager would do that."

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur will host Charlton Athletic from the Championship in the second round of the 2026/27 EFL Cup.

De Zerbi stated, "In terms of one-on-one ability, Savinho is one of the best players in the world. He can play on the right wing or the left wing."

“I’ve known him for a long time. I spoke with him during my time managing Brighton and before his transfer to Manchester City. He is a very important player and a very important signing for us.”
