Since joining the NBA as an expansion team in 1989, the Orlando Magic have produced many outstanding players. Here are the top five players in Magic history for steals:

1. Nick Anderson ( 1004 steals )

Nick Anderson was selected 11th overall in the first round of the 1989 NBA draft by the Orlando Magic. Anderson averaged 19.9 points per game for two consecutive seasons and contributed 1.5 steals per game during his Magic career , reaching a career high of 1.9 steals per game in the 1996-97 season.

2. Darrell Armstrong ( 830 steals )

Armstrong once won both the Most Improved Player and Sixth Man of the Year awards in the same season, a rare record in NBA history. In the 1998-99 season, he averaged 13.8 points, 6.7 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. As a point guard who was only 6 feet 1 inch tall, Armstrong went undrafted and played in overseas leagues before entering the NBA at the age of 26 , ultimately having a 14- year professional career.

3. Anfernee Hardaway ( 718 steals )

During his six seasons with the team, Hardaway was a four-time All-Star and a three-time All-NBA selection. In the 1995-96 season, he averaged 21.7 points, 7.1 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game, finishing third in MVP voting. In his rookie season, he averaged 2.3 steals per game .

During his eight seasons with the Magic, Howard won the Defensive Player of the Year award three times, was selected to the All-NBA Team six times, and was named to the All-Defensive Team five times. Howard averaged 1.0 steals per game in his Magic career, reaching 1.5 steals per game in the 2011-12 season .

5. Jameer Nelson ( 619 steals )

Nelson was first selected to the All-Star team in the 2008-09 season. That season, he averaged 16.7 points, 5.4 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game. As the team's playmaker, Nelson was not only adept at controlling the offensive tempo but also very active on the defensive end, averaging 1.3 steals per game in the 2012-13 season .
