In an interview, 26-year-old NBA point guard Darius Garland said that his toe injury has finally fully recovered and he looks forward to being 100% fit for the challenges of the new season.
Darius Garland, born in Indiana, was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Los Angeles Clippers in February of this year.
In the 2025/26 NBA regular season, Darius Garland played 19 games for the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging 18.9 points per game with a field goal percentage of 47.1% and a three-point field goal percentage of 43.8%.
Speaking about his previous toe injury, Darius Garland said, "It was really frustrating because I was playing really well in the 2024/25 season. So I think if I hadn't gotten injured, we would have had a chance to go much further in the playoffs, which really frustrated me. Playing for more than half a year basically like I only had nine toes was really tough."
"But now, I have a full summer and offseason, and I'm back to 100%. For most of that time, I felt like I was in a mental daze. Because we use our toes 24 hours a day. We also use our toes to run, defend, move laterally, and do all sorts of moves, so it's really difficult."
Darius Garland said, "I can only keep going. I make my living playing basketball. I just want to put on my helmet, go out on the court, and do my best."
In addition, Darius Garland said, "I was really happy when I came to Los Angeles. Being able to come to a new city is like a real fresh start, so it feels great. Besides, my adjustment process has been very smooth."
“I was really looking forward to starting this new journey. I was really happy because I had a brand new opportunity to take on new challenges. So I was very excited about it.”
