Maresca believes Manchester City will achieve great things as they embark on a new journey.

In an interview, Manchester City manager Maresca said he was incredibly excited to embark on a new journey with the "Citizens" as manager and believed that with the players' efforts, Manchester City would achieve significant success.

Another key match in the opening round of the 2026/27 Premier League season will be Manchester City hosting Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.

Looking back at their head-to-head record, Manchester City have a slight psychological advantage, winning three, drawing one, and losing one of their last five matches against Bournemouth. It's worth noting that following Andoni Iraola's departure, German Marco Rose officially became Bournemouth's manager in early June.

In the earlier 2026 Community Shield, Manchester City lost 0-3 to Arsenal after conceding goals in both halves, missing out on the title.

When discussing the current state of the squad, Maresca said, "The only player currently injured is Doku, but Nunes has returned to the team. Apart from Doku, everyone else is fine."

"Unfortunately, Doku mentioned at halftime of the last match that he was experiencing pain in his calf. It appears he will be out for about two to three weeks, but no longer."
