Arsenal secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Coventry City in their opening Premier League match of the 2026/27 season, with goals from Havertz, Saka, and Ødegaard. Zolis, who delivered a standout performance, expressed his gratitude for the fans' enthusiastic support, which motivated him even more on the pitch.
In the 15th minute, Calafiori crossed from the left, and Havertz slotted home to give Arsenal a 1-0 lead. In the 23rd minute, Zolis's cross was blocked by Coventry goalkeeper Rashworth, but Saka regained possession and slotted home to extend Arsenal's lead over Coventry to 2-0.
In the 49th minute of the second half, Ben White passed the ball back from the penalty area, and Ødegaard slotted it home, extending Arsenal's lead to 3-0.
Arsenal ultimately defeated Coventry 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium, securing three points.
It's worth mentioning that Zolis contributed two assists in the earlier Community Shield, helping Arteta's team win the championship.
"It feels really great to play in front of 60,000 fans, and everyone performed exceptionally well. From the first minute, everyone was ready to win this game. I'm happy with my performance; we played a fantastic match," said 24-year-old Zolis.
“I’m also very happy to help the team win these two games. I also felt the energy of the fans, especially in the first half. When I had the ball, there were a lot of cheers and expectations in the stadium, which gave me more motivation and allowed me to complete my moves with more confidence.”
Zolis shared, “Everyone is at a very high level and can build chemistry very quickly. That’s the huge difference between top teams and other teams. When you’re the England champions, you’re at the highest level, so everything becomes much easier. Even for a new player like me who just joined, it’s easier to adapt. Thanks to my teammates, they’re all at the highest level.”
Reflecting on his time at Norwich, Zolis said, "It was a completely different experience, but I learned a lot. I learned what the Premier League is like and how physically demanding it is. I've improved a lot over the past four years playing for different clubs, and I hope I can be ready to perform at the highest level."
“I realized at the time that I first had to be physically strong enough, and mentally prepared as well, because that kind of preparation is equally important if you want to play in the Premier League. That experience taught me a lot, and now I need to show those things.”
