Official: Chelsea extend striker Pedro's contract until June 2034

Chelsea officially announced on Saturday that they have extended the contract of Brazilian striker João Pedro. The new contract extends the original expiry date of 2033 by one year, until June 30, 2034.

The 24-year-old Pedro came through the Fluminense youth academy and made his first-team debut in the Rio de Janeiro State League on January 20, 2019. He then played for Watford and Brighton, making a total of 162 appearances, scoring 54 goals and providing 18 assists.

In July 2025, Pedro transferred to Chelsea for a maximum fee of £60 million. To date, he has made 53 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, contributing 23 goals and 9 assists, and won the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with the team.

After finalizing his contract extension, Pedro stated through official channels: "I am delighted to sign a new contract with Chelsea. I have always dreamed of playing for a top club. Staying at Chelsea for the long term means a great deal to me. Chelsea has a long tradition of winning and has high ambitions for the future."

According to the official statement, Pedro will continue to wear the number 9 jersey for Chelsea this season.
