The Heat plan to re-sign Keshard Johnson, with Nick Richards also emerging as a potential target.

According to a recent report by the Miami Herald, Keshard Johnson is expected to return to the Miami Heat. He is currently training with the Heat and discussing a potential return.

The report further indicated that the Heat might offer Johnson a standard NBA contract or a two-way contract.

The 25-year-old Johnson is a 6'6" (1.98m) and 102kg (102kg) small forward who will enter the NBA as an undrafted free agent in July 2024. He initially played for the Miami Heat and their affiliate, Sioux Falls Skyforce, and gradually became a member of the bench last season.

To date, Johnson has played 48 regular season games for the Heat, averaging 2.7 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.3 assists in 7.9 minutes per game, and won the 2026 NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest. He also played 40 games for Sulley Skyforce in the G League, averaging 17.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.

Besides Johnson, 28-year-old Nick Richards has also become a key target for the Heat's frontcourt rotation. The Heat value Richards' ability to play both power forward and center and hope he can take on the role of a frontcourt rotation player.

As the 42nd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NBA draft, Richards has played for the Charlotte Hornets, Phoenix Suns, and Chicago Bulls throughout his career. To date, he has appeared in 305 regular season games, averaging 7.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and 0.8 blocks in 17.6 minutes per game, with a field goal percentage of 62.1%.

However, Richards is considering multiple offers. While the Heat plan to sign Richards to fill their 14th roster spot, it remains unclear whether other teams are willing to offer him a higher guaranteed contract.
