Dota 2 legend SumaiL has officially retired.

After Nigma Galaxy finished their matches at The International 2026 (TI 2026), their core player, SumaiL, announced his official retirement from the Dota 2 professional scene, ending his career which lasted for more than ten years.

Nigma Galaxy lost 1-2 to BoomBoys in the lower bracket quarterfinals, ultimately finishing 5th or 6th in the tournament. In a post-match interview, SumaiL confirmed that this is likely the last professional tournament he will participate in.

SumaiL expressed his gratitude to his fans who have supported him over the years, stating that the vast player base and audience are key to maintaining the appeal of Dota 2. SumaiL is widely recognized as one of the greatest players in Dota 2 history.

In 2015, SumaiL joined the Evil Geniuses (EG) team and won the Asia Invitational with the team at the age of 15 years and 361 days, becoming the youngest champion in Valve's official tournaments.

In the same year, SumaiL won the TI 2015 championship at the age of 16 years and 176 days, and still holds the record for the youngest player to participate in and win the TI championship. In addition, he also set a TI record of 31 kills in a single game at TI 2018.

Throughout his career, SumaiL has won eight top-tier tournament titles, achieved three-point rankings at The International twice (2016 and 2018), and reached the top three in Major-level tournaments nine times.

In the final three years of his professional career, SumaiL played for Nigma Galaxy, leading the team to qualify for The International (TI) for two consecutive years and finishing in the top six both times, thus concluding his professional career.
