Sunderland have officially announced the signing of Toulouse youngster Metali for a transfer fee of €28 million.

Sunderland officially announced on Friday that Dayan Metalli has joined from Toulouse. The two sides signed a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.

The transfer was initially stalled due to problems with the medical examination, but was finalized after a successful re-examination. Multiple media outlets have confirmed that Metalli's transfer fee is €28 million.

Regarding Metali's arrival, Sunderland's sporting director, Florent Gisolfi, commented: "We are delighted to welcome Dayan to Sunderland Football Club."

The 20-year-old Dayan is a product of Toulouse's youth academy and will make his professional debut for the first team in Ligue 1 on August 16, 2025. As a left-back with strong attacking attributes, he has made 30 appearances for Toulouse to date, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.

After completing the transfer, Metali stated through official channels: "I am very excited to be here and can't wait to wear the Sunderland jersey."
