Real Betis officially announced the signing of AZ Alkmaar striker Parrott, with a transfer fee of up to 20 million euros.

Real Betis announced on Thursday that Troy Parrott has joined the club from AZ Alkmaar. The two sides signed a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.

Parrott had previously been linked with several clubs, including Ajax, Como, and RB Leipzig, with West Ham United even offering a higher price than Real Betis. Ultimately, Real Betis' Champions League qualification for next season became the key factor in Parrott's decision to join the club.

According to Spanish journalist Matteo Moreto, Parrott's transfer fee was €16 million plus €4 million in add-ons. Marca reports that AZ Alkmaar will also retain a 10% cut of any potential second transfer fee.

After signing the contract, Parrott said on social media: "I am very happy to be a part of this family. I can't wait to start a new journey and create unforgettable memories here."

Parrott, 24, came through the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy and made his professional debut for the first team in the English League Cup on September 24, 2019. He was subsequently loaned to Millwall, Ipswich Town, Milton Keynes Dons, Preston North End, and Excelsior Rotterdam, but has never been able to establish himself at Tottenham.

In July 2024, Parrott joined AZ Alkmaar from Tottenham Hotspur for €4 million. He primarily plays as a center forward for AZ Alkmaar, making 97 appearances to date, scoring 51 goals and providing 17 assists, and winning the Dutch Cup and the Dutch Super Cup with the team.

Parrott also made 37 appearances for the Irish national team, contributing 11 goals and 3 assists.

According to the official statement, Parrott will wear the number 19 jersey for Real Betis. As Betis' fourth new signing this summer, he is expected to partner with Cucho Hernandez in attack next season.
