Mourinho: We have built a very complete squad.

The second round of the 2026/27 La Liga season will take place, with Real Madrid traveling to face Espanyol. Mourinho stated in a press conference that the team possesses excellent players and has built a balanced and complete squad.

In their previous friendly match, Real Madrid secured a 3-0 victory over Schalke 04, thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappé, Dean Huysen, and Carlos Espi.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho said, "This is a team with excellent and top players, and our squad doesn't even have any weaknesses."

"This is a very balanced roster. In building this team, we conducted a lot of analysis and communication. We didn't act on emotions, were not influenced by feelings, or were swayed by external pressures, which often affect the final decision. In addition, we didn't consider any political factors."

Mourinho pointed out, "My coaching team and I are responsible for the technical analysis, while on the other hand, there are club president José Ángel Sánchez and Huni Calafat, who have different but complementary perspectives."

"In my opinion, we have finally done a very good job and built a very complete squad. The team has a very balanced personnel in every position, and the players sitting on the bench know that they may start tomorrow."

Furthermore, Mourinho stated, "This is not an overly large squad, but a balanced one. It's a tactical system that we believe has two players for each position, and I really like this configuration."

“I also really like the players’ training methods. Sometimes I might be very satisfied with the team’s potential, but then I find that the atmosphere in the daily training is not ideal. At this stage, after six weeks of training, I only have a very positive feeling about these players.”
